The text is encrypted inside your browser. The key goes after the # of the link and browsers never send that part to the server.
One read and it is over
The moment the recipient opens it, the record is deleted from the database. If anyone finds the link later, there is nothing left to see.
It also expires on its own
If nobody opens it, the message is deleted when the time you picked runs out. Nothing stays forever.
